First shoots completed!

So yesterday saw the first 3 photoshoots for the 2011 calendar at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum In Lichfield, We had Miss April – Melanie Turner, Miss November – Andrea Carter and Miss December – Charlie Siverns!

It was typical British summer weather, being very overcast and grey and the odd shower, but we battled on in the trenches there (pardon the pun) and all 3 models looked fabulous as our Pin-ups!

We would also like to take this time to say thank you to everyone involved on the day

Donna Street, from the  ‘A Box of Vintage‘ clothing company who helped getting the girls into their outfits and turn them into stunning pinups, Lisa Poole, from ‘Off with her Head‘ who has created and provided custom fascinators and hair accessories for all the girls and not forgetting Hair and Makeup for all the girls to really create that vintage pin-up look, we have Philipa-Jo Hunter, from Natural Nail Company who is providing both hair and Makeup, as well as Penny Grimley who is an experience makeup artist. Both Philipa and Penny worked amazingly and did a fantastic job on the girls, and also a special thanks to Sarah White who was one of the runners up in the calendar who came along to assist with the running of the shoot, very fortunante considering our own team member Julia Phillips was refused entry to the Museum for being pregnant due to health and safety concerns!

Also we have some sad news at the weekend that one of the final 12  girls has had to pull out of Calendar, Emma Edmundson, who was travelling over this weekend from Germany for the second lot of shoots has had to cancel due to a family bereavement, our thoughts go out to Emma and her Family at this sad time.  Unfortunately, this coming weekend was the only time Emma would have been able to travel over for the photoshoot, so she has requested that we offer her place to the next in line from the voting last month.

So in light of this, we have gone back through the votes, and are pleased to announce that our new Miss September is going to be…… (drum roll) …… Sarah White! We are now looking at revisiting the theme for the September month as well as costumes etc as unfortunately the venue for the shoot that was arranged for Emma is too far a distance for Sarah to travel to at such short notice, but we have already come up with some pretty exciting ideas for the shoot, which involved a fantastic steam railway!

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we will be adding more to the sight and behind the scenes images and video from the upcoming photoshoots!

Calendar Photography starts Monday!

Well, it’s again been a frantic few weeks, but we are incredibly pleased to announce the Photography for the 2011 Pin-up for Heroes Calendar starts this Monday the 26th July!

We will be heading down to the Staffordshire Regimental Museum in Lichfield for the first 3 shoots, featuring Miss April – Melanie Turner, Miss November – Andrea Carter and last but not least Miss December – Charlie Siverns, The museum, where we had one of the original casting shoots, have graciously let us return to the venue, where we will be shooting on location on and around the site, so it means the 3 glamarous girls will be clambering on tanks, running amok in the trenches and playing hide and seek in the Air-raid shelters.

It will be a full days session, where Andy Simon, the photographer from Darkslide Photography will be frantically snapping the girls to get the right shots, as well as Julia Phillips will be helping get the girls ready, as well as one of our runners up, Sarah White has volunteed to come along for the day to assist with the girls also, due to Julia’s Imminent birth!

We would also like to take this oppertunity to thank some of the people who have been involved thus far, they are as follows :

Willie Turner, from the Regimental Museum, who has offered us the run of the  facilities for the day

Donna Street, from the  ‘A Box of Vintage‘ who has kindly donated costumes, outfits, accessories and shoes, amongst other things for all of the final 12 girls, Donna will also be onsite for the day assisting with the fitting, and ensuring all the girls look amazing in their outfits.

Lisa Poole, from ‘Off with her Head‘ who has created and provided custom fascinators and hair accessories for all the girls

Ky Wheeler, from ‘Razorblade Mermaid‘ who has offered custom bespoke Jewellery for everyone.

…and not forgetting Hair and Makeup for all the girls to really create that vintage pin-up look, we have Philipa-Jo Hunter, from Natural Nail Company who is providing both hair and Makeup, as well as Penny Grimley who is an experience makeup artist.

Following the intial photography on monday, Andy will be heading down to Salisbury at the weekend for another 5 of the calendar shoots, spread over 2 days, in which we have some fabulous venues lined up, including Tedworth House, a grand Manor house near the Tidworth Army Barracks, as well as a wonderful picnic area for another of the shoots. None of which would have been possible without the endless support of one of the newest Pin-up for Heroes team Members, Lucy Jerwood, who has arranged all the venues and co-ordianted the timing of the shoots.

Also, over the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled on the website for behind the scenes footage from the shoots, as well as the long awaited (and needed) overhaul of the website, as well as the brand new Pin-up for Heroes SHOP where we will be starting to take pre-orders for the upcoming calendar, which we are still aiming to have launched for September!

Again, we would like to thank everyone who has made this little project into something amazing, and fingers crossed we can raise huge amounts of cash for the much needed Help for Heroes Charity!

Finally, if you are interested in supporting us in anyway, we would love to hear from you, and you can contact us using the link on the website.

Latest news from the PUFH camp!

Well, its been a good few weeks since we updated the site, so thought it best to keep you all informed of whats been going on!

The team have been very busy behind the scenes sorting locations for the final shoots, liasing with the girls, costumes suppliers, hair and make-up stylists, as well as working with the girls on which month they would like to have in the final calendar. As it stands, we are aiming to have all the photography completed by the end of July! so in order of month, here are each of the girls!

January – Jo Wilson

February  – Melissa Charnock

March – Laura Metcalfe

April – Melanie Turner

May – Claire Doyle

June – Helen Tosney

July – Sophie Maxwell

August – Annette Finch

September – Emma Edmundson

October – Bianca Rackham

November – Andrea Carter

December – Charlie Siverns

We have specific ideas for each of the girls and will be consulting with the costume suppliers on what would work best for each girl, but we will be keeping this very hush hush for the time being, although once the shooting starts towards the end of the month, we will be posting sneak peeks and behind the scenes shots to give you all an idea of what we are trying to achieve for the final calendar!

We are also hoping to have TV crews on board on the shooting dates who will be recording behind the scenes footage as well as interviews with the models and the team, so keep an eye out for videos at a later date!

Also, plans are already under way to organise the launch party, which we are provisionally setting for around the end of September or start of October, which gives you all plenty of time to purchase your calendar in time for Christmas!  Over the next few weeks, the website will be having a complete overhaul, as well as we will be setting up an online shop to take pre-orders for the calendar, which will be retailing at £9.95 plus postage.  Remember, we are strictly non-profit, and will be donating 100% of the sales to the Help for Heroes charity, so every order counts!

Finally, a small request. We are still in desperate need of sponsors for the calendar to help us towards the cost of the print run, with last years calendar, this cost us almost £2000, which could have made a big difference to the donations we made to help for heroes, so if you can help in any way, either you own a printing company, or wish to make a donation to us, either in the form of cash, or prizes we can offer as raffles or auctions at some of our upcoming events, please get in touch with us on info@pinupforheroes.co.uk, all sponsors and doners will receive in return full credit in the final calendar, as well as links on the website and our facebook pages etc. so if you would like to help out, even the smallest of contributions will be apprecated!

So stay tuned over the next few weeks for more news and updates, and don’t forget to follow us on facebook and twitter for all the latest news!

Andy, Julia and the P.U.F.H. team!
